"Old Ford Eyes"

Oil on canvas, 12" x 12"

My paintings of old trucks are really a salute to The Greatest Generation. Like those folks who built, shaped and preserved America, those old Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge vehicles went out and did their jobs day after day. Some were called into service for their country; others remained behind, working on the farms and in the cities. But all did their part. Most got bumped and scraped along the way. Others didn't make it. But many kept plugging along, moving a bit slower, until at last they were able to rest. I paint them straight on, much like a portrait, hoping to reflect a quiet dignity as they bask in a sunlit field or under a shady tree. And my hope is that after a lifetime of hard, honest work, we can all have a peaceful rest.
